Historical Thinking Skills: Sourcing, Contextualization, Close Reading
Time Period: 1914-1918
Attending to the metadata of a source is a critical aspect of sourcing a document. This information, in conjunction with contextualization and close reading of a source can give a fuller picture of the strengths and weaknesses of a source in providing evidence for a historical inquiry. In this assessment, students are provided with two sources and must evaluate their overall usefulness by using these three skills.
